There is something inherently meaningful about gathering around a table. It creates space to slow down, to listen, to share stories and, perhaps most importantly, to connect.
This spring, we introduced the inaugural Hogans Long Lunch at Gips Fine Food, bringing members of our community together for an afternoon centred around mental health and the importance of meaningful conversation.

The idea behind the Long Lunch was simple: to create a space where people could come together, step away from the pace of everyday life and engage in conversations that are often difficult to begin. Mental health touches every community, yet the opportunity to speak openly, listen without judgement and share experiences is not always readily found.

Held amongst the warmth of Gips Fine Food, the afternoon was relaxed and personal by design. Rather than simply bringing people together for an occasion, the Long Lunch offered time to pause and be present. To enjoy good food, thoughtful conversation and the company of others, while engaging with a subject that reaches far beyond the room itself.
The afternoon also provided an opportunity for Hogans to support an organisation doing important work within our community. Funds raised through the Long Lunch were donated to Momentum Mental Health, contributing to their ongoing work to support mental health and wellbeing within the community.

As a family-owned business with deep roots in Toowoomba, giving back to the community has long been an important part of the Hogans story. The Long Lunch offered a new expression of that commitment. Creating an occasion where our community could come together around a cause that matters, while supporting an organisation whose work reaches so many.
As our inaugural Long Lunch, the afternoon marked the beginning of something we hope to carry forward. Not simply as an annual event, but as an opportunity to continue creating space for considered conversation, meaningful connection and community.
Because sometimes, the most important conversations begin simply; around a table, with good company, an open mind, and the time to listen.
